Las Vegas is a city known widely for being the party capital of America, while millions flock to the desert mecca every year to experience a taste of the exalted nightlife, a whole underground community of proven and experienced artists line the streets of Vegas making it one of the most unique places in the world. Painters, entertainers, musicians, writers and sculptors from all around the world have buffered the Las Vegas art scene for the past 60 years creating an atmosphere unlike anything else in the world.
Vegas is Home of The Artists!
When you walk the streets of Vegas, it’s a mix of history and flavor so unique that the only word that can describe it is, well Vegas! From the varied architecture to the melting pot of cultures and personalities, this is the only place you can lose hundreds of dollars one moment, then walk 30 feet over to the bar to tell an uninterested French tourist all about it while they pretend to listen as they enjoy the vast internal architecture of an elaborate mega-resort. But gambling is without a doubt what built the city of Las Vegas. Through Vegas’ history casinos have gone from being owned by singular pompous money men of the 40’s to multi-national corporate entities worth billions of dollars.
While money may be the blood of this place, Music and entertainment are still the soul. Throughout the decades thousands of artists have strived to make it to Vegas to have a chance at making it big on Americas favorite Strip. But fame isn’t always the motive, no, while all these artists have filtered through the city as frequently as water, it’s the big name acts that draw in musicians both local and abroad that find a place to call home in Vegas. These acts, bands and musicians that call Sin City home are all artists who carry on the heartfelt tradition and doctrine of the music-scape of Las Vegas that captured the countries imagination.
Santa Fe and The Fat City Horns are some of these highly respected artists, a hidden crown Jewel of the desert, this group carries on the somewhat lost tradition of the classic big band orchestra. Much like the bands that would back the great Rat Pack or Tom Jones himself, Santa Fe has been in the entertainment scene long enough to remember the days!
Santa Fe and The Fat City Horns Are The Farm Club Band of The Century!
Much like the old days, this band follows the formula of a “Farm Club” band where musicians regularly rotate out and come back in. The band has followed this outline for decades under the lead of Musical legend, Jerry Lopez. Serving as a throwback to classic Vegas and the minds who made it what it was, the band regularly performs Las Vegas as well as backing the only show in Las Vegas that is actually about Las Vegas.
Now after decades of keeping up the tradition, Jerry Lopez brings his musical prominence to the Las Vegas Strip every night in VEGAS! the Show at Saxe Theater inside the Planet Hollywood. Furthermore you can catch Jerry Lopez and the rest of the Fat City Horns inside “The Lounge” at the Palms every Monday night at 10:30 p.m.!
